2017 has already proven to be a year of surprises including travel bans, Meek & Nicki Split, Future announces new tour, & more. Maintaining his relevancy Dj Funky released an explosive Mattress Music album titled “Cuffing Season” . The album opens up with a slippery swag track “Bunkin” Ft Jagged Edge, Kap G, & Solo Lucci chanting “shawty body bunking like the trap do” . Cuffing Season is Funky’s 7th Official Album & is not short of your favorite rappers including Too Short, Snoop, Sleepy Brown, & many more. Dj Funky, the King Of Underground Hype never ceases to amaze his fans not only by breaking records but giving everyone the ability to hear their favorite artist on exclusive tracks unreleased by any other albums or mixtapes. After listening to “Cuffing Season” I found it difficult to pick my favorite track as hey were all “Cuffing” worthy. The songs that stood out the most were Sexton & Too Short “Do For It” because of the sexy sultry hook with Short Dawg giving us his same pimpish flava along with the very 1st song ft Jagged Edge “Bunkin” because of its bedroom bass worthy production. Another favorite is “Last Chance” ft Tmelle & Mal. Tmelle sings this ballad so lovely with a sexy spin topped with Mal giving the ladies so much life on the track & last but not least Florida artist Dat Guy sings on a scotchy song ft Snoop Dog titled “Going Down” reminding us the definition of “Cuffing Season” . If you are hip to the Atlanta hip-hop scene, then you have to know about Duct Tape Ent. Founded by Big Bank Black and Alley Boy Duct Tape Entertainment is an independent record label, but if you ask the streets they may tell you something different. The streets of Atlanta are no stranger to Duct Tape nor is the industry. With countless mixtapes and songs, Trouble has had a buzz in Atlanta for some time. Last year after collabing on a track with Yung Thug, ‘Thief in the Night’, Trouble raised the stakes on his name in the rap game. Now with the release of his latest single, Bad, he starts the year on a high note. Though typically characterized by rugged lyrics and street talk, this song taps more into his melodic style, (which I totally recommended from him & his close friend) thats something we can hopefully expect more of. He made a song a couple years ago called “Mollyworld” (one of my absolute favorite) & I wanted so much for him to embrace that sound. Trouble has always been lyrical and with this song he gives us something I’m sure ladies and gents can relate to. To bear witness to his evolution as an artist, all I can say is be ready for what’s next.
In the era of trap music, club bangers, and the turn up generation…there are still artists with mellow flows and melodic beats. We introduce you to Ryne, an artist out of the DMV area delivering us that HEAT. I recently checked out his soundcloud page and all I had to do was let the music play because it was literally “MUSIC to my EARS”. Get familiar with this artist and more of his music by visiting his soundcloud at soundcloud.com/legacyovermoney
